Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging (Louise Rennison) BOOK REVIEW
Ahoy!
I've approached this series a bit weirdly on my blog having reviewed the fourth instalment first, but here goes!
In a Nutshell:
The confessions of a crazy, angsty teenager!
The Actual Review:
This is one of those books that have been adapted into film and I watched the film first. I loved the movie but the book more so. I don't usually read this type of book and as much as I love it (and at the time of eventually writing the review - the series) I don't intend to read anything similar - it's one of those books that I'd like to treat as a one-off.
The narration is hilarious and is set into manageable sections - perhaps even too manageable. Maybe not, I did finish it within a day.
Angus, Thongs is a book that has caught me completely off guard and has made me truly, uncontrollably laugh and has taken me completely by surprise. Even for a diary, the characters are well-developed and Rennison has managed to provide insight into their lives as well as Georgia's.
In Conclusion:

In Conclusion:
- Very funny
- A quick-read for anyone
- Don't read it in public!

////////// Quote of the post //////////
“Watching TV Mum said, 'Do you miss your dad?' and I said, 'Who?”
― Louise Rennison, Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging
I am so in love with the film but always thought I was a little too old now to go back and read the book, especially as it was a big hit when I was in Year 6. I absolutely love this review, it's really sold the book to me as a light fun read to bring a bit of enjoyment and fun to my day. I'll be adding this to my to-read list straight away :)

Yay! cx
DeleteThis book title cracks me up! Does the movie have the same title as the book?
ReplyDeleteSimilar, the movie is called Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging and is based on the first two books. I think you can find it on YouTube
DeleteHaha my friend has this book and whenever I read I crack up laughing!
ReplyDeleteGreat review, by the way!

I'm so pleased to hear it!
DeleteThis series is so funny. When I first read it (quite some years ago now) I wasn't all that familiar with British humor, so the glossary in the back really made it even better.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading to you.
Always useful glossaries are!
DeleteI love books where the writing actually makes me burst out laughing ! I recently read an amazing book called " Finding Audrey " about a girl suffering from social anxiety and although it is a sensitive and sad topic , it was written with so much humour that I couldn't help laughing out loud and getting some very funny looks in the library hehe :)

I'll look into it. Another humorous mental health book that I can reccomend is Lottie Biggs is Not Mad by Hayley Long about a girl with kleptomania. It's certainly for the pre-teen audience, but enjoyable anyway
DeleteI loved the film and it is that type of film which I go to when I am feeling down! I have never read the book though and I do usually prefer books to films so I might give this one a try!

I recommend it!
DeleteI'm glad you posted this, because I totally forgot about this book. I wanted to read it a while ago, but never got around to it.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
