Twilight (Stephenie Meyer) Book Review | NO SPOILERS!
Ahoy!
Now, it may seem like it was years ago that Twilight was popular, but my Mom didn't let me read it at the time, and I was almost crying before I opened the first page the other day!
In a Nutshell:
Haha no, I think everybody knows.
The Actual Review:
'A 12 year old could write better!', 'This was so cheesy', 'This book is so anti-feminist, it's disgusting!', 'Bella is such a bad role model!' . These are things we've all heard, well unfortunately, I have to disagree.
True, it isn't the most well-worded novel I've ever read, but it is entertaining and well-written enough for me to want to carry on reading. Regardless of what people think, I don't think Bella is a bad role-model, just because a character isn't strong, doesn't make them a bad role-model. I'm not strong, and I'm impressionable so does that mean I'm a bad role model to my friends? People also need to understand that their opinion isn't the only one that matters and therefore there is nothing wrong with not being a feminist.
But to review the actual story, I can only say that I'm so glad I kept waiting.
Rating:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Conclusion:
⚫️ It was an entertaining and quick read
⚫️ I don't understand most of the negative-stigma surrounding it
⚫️ It is worth reading!
////////// Quote of the post //////////
"I like the night. Without the dark, we'd never see the stars" - Stephenie Meyer, Twilight
It's not bad, they wouldn't do a movie according to it when there are so many ya books out there. For me it's just a really weird ending of the love triangle...

DeleteI have to agree with you about that! Im not sure how I feel about the love triangle at the moment!
I really enjoyed this book when I first read it too. It's not the most amazing thing to have ever been written, and it has its problems, but I'll always have a soft spot for the series! I really love the movies too, they're some of my favourites. Great post! :)

Yep, whilst it isn't the best book be read, I genuinely did like it. I haven't read the others yet but hope to soon. How are they in comparison to Twilight?
DeleteThey are not horrible, but definitely not great literary works either. For me, it's the Love Triangle which made me hate the book. I literally cried tears of annoyance. I really liked the books when I was actually reading it, but then I finished the whole series and was like... why did I just read that? I hope you don't experience the same! Great review :)

Thank you for that, Rekha! It sucks to have an experience like that with a book(s). Yes, love triangles are pretty boring! I'm not planning on rushing into completing the saga, but I haven't dismissed it either.
DeleteYou know, I don't think these are the worst books out there, I just don't particularly love them. If I ever get around to it (since there are so many books I want to read) I might read this series again, just to see what I think. It was honestly my hate for the movies that ruined the books for me.
ReplyDeleteWell, I haven't finished the series but at watched the movie after reading it and I thought it didn't stay true to the story at all! I have to agree that they aren't the worst books (book, in this case) as there are very worse *ahem* "novels" out there!
DeleteI don't care what anyone thinks -- I enjoyed this book. I liked the second and third a little less, but there was something about them that had me turning the pages like crazy!

I think that's great! Dare to think what no one else thinks and I have to agree that it is a good book!
DeleteI remember reading the first book twilight right after the movie came out this was around the holiday season of 2008? Well, whenever the movie twilight came out I read the book about a month or two later. But I would not watch the movie until I read the book. I brought it home that night from the library and I started reading it right after dinner. I remember about five chapters and I was in love with this book.
ReplyDeleteIf you do not mind me asking how old were you when the book 1st came out about 10 years ago?
I know that it is not a literary masterpiece, but that's doesn't matter not one bit. I know people got all over Edward being some sort of a creepy old stalker... well I was reading the book and I was totally swooning over him. LOL
I remember finishing the book sometime the following day about 3 AM and I immediately went online to find new Moon. I will admit this now but I was a very bad girl and downloaded a boot leg e-book. Now this is something I do not do anymore nor have I done it many many many years. But I was so desperate to read the next book in the series at 3 AM this is what I did. The next day when I woke up finally I went back to the library and reserved the final books in the series and went home with them the same day.
I think breaking dawn is my favorite book in the series because I could not wait for her to turn. And of course I was so excited to watch the movie. Something about the way the movie was filmed was really cool
